Pension Latest News: The Central Government has given great facilities to its employees. The Central Government has given an exemption to the eligible employees to avail the benefits of the old pension scheme (OPS) except the National Pension System (NPS).

The Department of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions has issued a notification to regularize the services of Central Government employees under the National Pension Scheme (NPS). According to the report of Financial Express, the central government has given great facilities to its employees. The Central Government has given an exemption to the eligible employees to avail the benefits of the old pension scheme (OPS) except the National Pension System (NPS). This can now be availed till May 31, 2021.

Eligible employees must apply by May 5, 2021, to avail of Old Pension Scheme (OPS). Government employees who do not apply will continue to benefit under the provisions of the National Pension System.

Whereas, government employees who were appointed between 1st January 2004 to 28th October 2009 and receiving pension benefits under CCS (Pension) Rules will continue to get the same benefits as before.

What's the matter-

Experts say that the old pension scheme is more beneficial than NPS. There are many benefits to the old scheme. In the old scheme, along with the pensioner, his family is also safe. If the missing employees get the benefit of OPS, it will secure their retirement.

Who will get the benefit of it

According to the Financial Express, between January 1, 2004, and October 28, 2009, due to non-receipt of the benefit of counting of previous services under the old pension system, state government employees are required to take voluntary retirement after January 1, 2004, and before appointment till October 28, 2009. Had to be forced.

In such cases, the voluntary retirement of employees will be considered technical retirement. Such government employees will also be given the benefit of the old pension scheme. However, they have to fulfill all the other conditions required to avail the counting of previous services.

The option of opting for OPS will be available to the employees who come under the old pension scheme like Railway Pension Rules or CCS (Pension) Rules, 1972 as well as other central institutes under the old pension scheme or CCS (Pension) Rules. Were appointed in the departments or autonomous bodies of the State Government before January 1, 2004.
